Reflection

After taking this class this semester, I have learned about the importance of analyzing literature.  In the past I have always summarized what I have read, but this class has given me the tools to really understand what I have read.  This is be a great skill to have in the future because I can really dig down and find out why the author is writing about something, or even what importance it may have in my life.
I have learned to really use outlines more in my prewriting.  Before this class I would just sit down and start writing out my thoughts, but I understand that it is better to do an outline so my thoughts are more organized. I still have to remind myself to use an outline, but when I do use one, I am very pleased with the outcome.
My biggest challenge for this class was really committing myself to the work load.  I knew there would be a lot of writing, but when other factors of my personal life interfered with class work, I often times just did not do my best work.  This is something that I struggled with the entire semester.  I would not work ahead, but rather did a lot of my work last minute, and now I have to deal with the consequences of that by not receiving the grades that I know I could have been capable of.
But all in all, I really did learn a lot from this class and I hope I can take those skills and use them not only in my future classes, but also with work that I will have to complete in my career.

Zombies!

Zombies!
I have always been very fascinated by zombies and the many stories that have been created about them.  To me the actual realism of zombies walking the earth is just mere entertainment.  I think that if anything were to happen, people would not just walk around looking for flesh to feed on.  I believe that there very well may be a chemical that could leak out and virally infect the world, but I don’t think the reaction would be zombies.
I think that people would become very ill, such as their brains would not function properly and therefore creating mass chaos in the world.  In the movie “The Crazies” people just basically lose all human behaviors and begin to act like wild animals.  This is what I feel would be a more realistic reaction to a worldwide viral or chemical mishap.
I think that people want to look towards the entertainment industry for relief from the current real world.  And by watching horrible zombie movies, people can feel better, even if only for a few hours, about the current issues in their lives.  When there is a war going on around them, what could possibly be worse than fearing for your loved ones away at war?  Well I know that when I watch movies about zombies, I am so involved in the horrific scenes of people thriving off of other human’s flesh that most of my worries got away.
